Letters to Ultraman: Beth ウルトラマンへの手紙：ベス

Dear Beth,

At last! At last! There's an Ultrawoman on this list! I have awaited this day. It would be nice it you weren't the most recent named female fighter. Since you showed up we got the Internet, DVDs and a whole new century!

You were an integral part of the Ultra Force with your water manipulation and fighting skills. I wonder where the rest of the female fighters are? Are Ultran women just naturally predisposed to healing over fighting, like in Story 0? Or are there simply no more than a handful who decided their path demanded destruction over creation? If they fight like you and Yullian, it's a puzzle as to why we haven't seen very many more.

You are not Ul-tera-man, 'sword of the shining grounds'; you are ul-tera-uman, a 'red sword of the shining grounds'. A weapon already familiar with pain. One who fights because she must. I suspect the Land of Light has moved beyond the challenges human women and girls must face. In fact, I hope for it. It would be pretty damn depressing if an enlightened, advanced society such as Ulterra still has a problem with objectifying its women.

Anyhow, stand strong. Stand proud. And fight with all you've got!

残念なことに君が最新の名前のつけられた女戦士。
君の活躍以後インターネットやDVDが発明され　新世紀にもなりました！

君の水の扱いと戦闘力でウルトラフォースに不可欠の一員だった。
ほかの女戦士はどこだろう？
ウルトラの星の女性はSTORY0の内容のように、先頭より治療に優れているのでしょうか？
それに創造より破壊の道を選んだものはわずかな一握りであるのでしょうか？
君とユリアンのように戦えるものがいれば、見たものは数少ないだけが不思議。

君は、「輝く大地の刀」　ウル・テラ・マンではない。
君はウル・テラ・ウマン―「輝く大地の赤刀」である。
痛みに慣れてきた武器。戦わなければいけないから、戦っている。
光の国は既に人類の女性が日々立ち向かう試練を超えていたと思う。
そうであることを願っている。ウルテラのような益々進歩してきた社会がまだ女性を物とみなせば　とてつもなく悲しいことでしょう。
