Activity update 活動更新

So, a quick update on things:

1. After about a year and a half of diddling around with it, the Tsubutter logs from 2010 are DONE! Just have to watermark the PDFs and you, too, can enjoy what passed for memes in Japan one year ago.
2. I've watched Ginga Densetsu, but  I do not have particularly kind words about it. Haven't seen Revenge of Belial (the Zero-centric movie that showed up while I was away from this blog). A kind commenter has pointed me to versions of the Zeromovie trailers that were NOT blocked outside of Japan, but Tsuburaya's decision to wall out its international fans still rankles. I will not be seeing this movie...at least until a Japanese version shows up here in the shops.
3. We're 36 days away from Ultraman's 45th anniversary (hurray!) and every Ultra's getting a letter in their intergalactic mailbox. I'm starting with Zero and working my way back down to the original Ultraman.

久しぶりに更新！

1. 一年間過ぎが経って、ついにツブッタ－のログを完成しました！PDFに電子透かしをかけたら君も古いミームを手に入れる（苦笑）
2. 銀河伝説はちゃんと見ました…だけどあんまり良いことは言えない。ROMってる間に出たウルトラマンゼロ THE MOVIE 超決戦！ベリアル銀河帝国は、まだ見ていません。
   ブログのコメンターが丁寧に日本外に見れるトレーラーを指してくれましたけど、国際ファンを締め出すような行動がまだ腹立たしく感じます。映画は見ない…ここに日本語版が出ない限り。
3. ウルトラマンの４５周年記念日まであと３６日なので、ウルトラ戦士にはそれぞれの宇宙郵便箱に一通の手紙が届く。ゼロからはじめ、初代マンまで。

これまでのニュースをお伝えしました。長い間ウルランを見守っていてありがとうございました。しょしてこれからの「ウルトラマンへの手紙」もよろしくお願いいたします。

Ginga Densetsu International Release 銀河伝説の国際公開

8-something pm Monday 28/9 I send this in through TPC's English contact form:

Dear Sirs,

I've been keeping track of the Ginga Densetsu movie for some time; it looks good, almost a dream come true! Since Warner Bros. is distributing the film this time, I've heard rumours of an international release but nothing concrete so far. Will there be an international release this time--or should I be forwarding this query to Warner Bros. Japan, instead?

I look forward to one day being able to catch an Ultra movie in local theaters.

The last time I e-mailed Tsuburaya from that same form, a reply came back in three days. Monday 5 October rolled around with no response.

By Thursday the 8th I had no fingernails left.

Even if the movie never directly makes it to the silver screens of my home country (touch wood!), it's heading out into the big, wide world one day. Thank the gods that they're thinking about this. Eiji Tsuburaya gave the world Ultraman. There are fans from Portugal to Phuket, Brazil to Beijing. There is no difference between the 8-year-old Japanese boy, the American man in his 40s and the Malaysian woman in her 20s who will—yes, I say 'will'!—watch Ginga Densetsu; they will all be filled with joy. They may laugh; they may cry; they will share something special that goes beyond geographical boundaries.

Ultraman is big enough for the whole world to share, so thumbs up, TPC, for considering that little fact. I'm going to go make some people smile now.

Ultrandom Maintenance

Ultrandom is getting a bit of its code tweaked to make image viewing a better experience. During this period, some posts may load a little strange. Thank you for your patience, and please stand by for further updates!

ETA 2220 - Wokei that's it, updates are done! The canon/conte map was updated to include Ultra Galaxy; The most recent post on the creation of Man had a big mistake fixed (aargh how did I not see that one); and all pictures now open in new windows whenever necessary.

April Fool's is coming! 四月馬鹿はもうすぐ！

Don't forget, everyone—for 24 hours on April 1, starting at 00:00 Japan time (GMT + 9 hours), Tsuburaya's official site will be switched out for their special April Fool's version. Highlights from past years include troll threads from miscellanous seijins, Hikari peppering his SNS posts with emoticons and Kanegon's linkdump blog featuring references to 'ShoowaVideo' (ShuwaShuwa Douga) and 78 Channel. (2ch/4channel)

While the creation myth isn't done yet, there IS a sample for now:

Oh my gods, she's alive. Hello folks, and a Happy New Year to you! (It's not belated if you follow the lunar calendar! It's not the full moon yet, lalalalalalala...ow, who threw that brick?!)

The long silence was caused by a few troubles at work, but things have settled down a bit. I intend to resume some sort of regular update schedule (ergh, wish me luck) and go through the ideas I already have prepared. The continuity post has been updated to include N Project in the chart and the 8 Bros. canon in both the post and chart.

As a bit of an aside, this Earth Ox Year is slated to be a conservative and down to earth one. Water Oxes like Taro are said to be realistic, practical and ambitious, but also work well with others; Fire Oxes like Dyna are forceful, proud and outspoken, and suited for the military. Sounds like our two, all right. Here's to a great year ahead for everyone, and thank you for your continued readership!

P.S. - If anyone sees Dyna, tell him I want my Superglue back.

遅ればせながら　明けましておめでとうございます！
（…でも陰暦に従えば　未だ遅くはありません！まだ睦月の満月ではないのですｵﾎﾎﾎ…痛い！誰がこのレンガを投げた？！）

仕事場で色んな事情があって長い間更新に手を付けませんでしたけど、ようやく落ち着きましたのでちゃんとした更新スケジュールに戻りたいと思います。
アイディアも幾つ準備していますので、よろしくお願いします。
今日は世界関係記事が更新されて、Ｎプロを図に加え８兄弟の事情を書き留めて、図に加えました。

丑年ですね！
今年の土丑は保守的で地味な年になりそうです。
タロウの様に水丑に生まれた人は現実性の野心家と実際家と言われて、他人と力を合わせるのも得意でしょう。
ダイナみたいの火丑は力強くて気高くて無遠慮な性格を持ち、軍部に向いている。
…あたる部分はかなりありそうですね。
皆さんの２００９がいい年であるように、そしていつも読んでくれてありがとうございました！

Fully booked! フーリーブックド！

Hello everyone, this is your friendly neighbourhood Ming speaking. I apologise for the sudden dearth of material, but things heated up very suddenly at work and my schedule went berserk. The good news is I do have a few ideas in reserve (and would like your help choosing one for the next article. See the sidebar.).

The better news, particularly if you're a fan in South East Asia, is that now the Chaiyo rights fiasco is over books have naturally flowed back into those countries (After years, may I add! This could be oldish news, though). I went to KL's Kinokuniya with my friend Panda-senpai and scared her with the amount of literature I lugged back. Thank you for keeping me company, P, and for lugging half the books around while I scouted for more...^^;

I've added the appropriate new acquisitions to the FAQ, under the references section. There's also something else there you might want to check out there, about fanfiction. Particularly if you write it. ;)

(ETA: The world continuity post has been updated slightly with a new map, and Galtan Stareater's post now features more art depicting him, including an old scroll unearthed in the city of Lyrcade. All posts up to May have been cleaned up slightly, particlarly to expand references and remove some horrible spelling errors in Japanese. Somehow Space Garrison became In-The-Rain Garrison. Don't ask.　Webclap is in the midst of preparations, so please wait a little longer for that!)

急に更新停止になって、すみませんでした。
仕事場で突然あれこれが湧いてきて、スケジュールも乱れてしまった。

数日前はパンダ先輩とクアラ・ルンプルの紀伊〇屋に行って、買った本の量で驚かせました。
付き合ってくれて、そして本の半分まで持ってくれてありがとうございましたね、P先輩（汗）

資料になりそう本を「よくある質問」にあるリストに足しました。
小説についてちょっとお知らせがありますので、小説を書く皆さんも、かならず一度　目に通してくださいね！

後書：
世界繋がりの記事が訂正され、新しいマップ映像をつけました。
星食いガルタンの記事にも、リールケイドの町で発掘された絵巻物と他者のガルタンの絵が見れる様になりました！
5月までの記事が参照をもっと詳しく書きとめて、日本語の綴り間違いを訂正する為にちょっと更新しました。
どうやって「宇宙警備隊」が「雨中警備隊」になったのも謎です…。
あとは、ウェブ拍手ももうすぐ始まります！

Yes, folks, Ultrandom is back like Jack. The article on Ultran races has been updated slightly, and the Japanese version has been translated and inserted too.

Many thanks to those of you who kept on coming—and to the new visitors as well! It seems we have people stopping by from not just Japan and S.E. Asia, but also China, Hong Kong, Australia, and even Italy! I don't know enough languages to express my thanks to all of you, so please accept a great big Crosstongue 'Zha sudir' from Ultrandom! :D

Recharge time リチャージの時間

It's been a while, hasn't it ^^; Sorry for the long silence Ultrandom hasn't been updated for the past one-two weeks for various reasons: work is becoming exceedingly busy, a friend of mine went for an operation (Lamster, get well soon!) and most major of all, my grandmother took a spill and broke her leg. This means weekends with very little net access for the next few weeks as my part of the family goes to take care of her.

Ultrandom will be updating on and off until things stabilise, so if you want to send in your own questions, it's a great time to get them in. The address is in the FAQ! Thanks for stopping by, folks. It's quite rewarding to see visitors coming in from all over the place, and I hope you'll keep on checking back!

お久しぶりでした、明です；
最近は仕事もド忙しくなって、友達が手術を受けることになった。（ラムスター、早く元気になってね！）
その上に、うちの祖母が家の中に転んで、右の大たい骨を折ってしまいました。
そんなわけで投稿する気がなく、これから少しの間は、週末で家族とお祖母さんの家に行って面倒を看る事になったので、ネット回線がない。

Textbooks and Comicbooks テキストと漫画

OK! Great! Bringer of Light is now fully translated, and I can get down to some of the more random things I wish to cover.

Tsuburaya is about to run Ultra Certification—no, I'm not making this up. The Ultra Kentei site is here. There's a 'textbook' out, which looks fairly interesting. Anything with Ultra footprints in it should be good, but what I'd like to know is are they focusing on the 'fantasy' aspect or the 'realistic' aspect of UM? Cause hey, if they're going to put things like Ultran script and 'history' and design sketches* tidbits like that, I'd hit Kinokuniya, but if it's more of a 'these are the shows and everyone involved' compilation, I might pass. D:

Also, I mentioned Midou Kazuhiko in the FAQ like, once—so go take a look at his website! He's just started up, but for those who follow(ed) Ultra Ninja Manual, this is your chance to get in touch with the guy. It's nice to see he's still around. Lay off the cigarettes, though, sensei ^^;

Next week - The forerunners of the Ultra Brothers, and maaaybe webclap. The polls became undecided at the last minute, it seems.

円谷プロは、ウルトラ検定を行いますらしい。
冗談じゃないってー詳しくはこちらってー。
テキストまで出しているみたいです。かなり面白そうなものですね！
ウルトラマンの足跡などが載せられたら文句はないですけど、
知りたいのは、焦点はウルトラマンの「理想分」か「空想分」になる事。
ウルトラ文字や歴史やデザイン書類*まで入っていたら、キ〇ノクニヤへ冒険に出るけど、
番組と関係者のみになる書類ならば、興味は少し落ちます。D:

Special Bulletin 臨時ニュース

Right, so—small announcement or three or four.

1. The FAQ now has its own link at the sidebar, seeing as it's dropped off the first page. ;)
2. One is honoured to be mutually linked with Hikari no Yuushi, which is honestly all types of cuteness. Also Taurus' Miscellany, which deals more with entertainment news nowadays, but used to run a mighty fine Ultra analysis.
   
3. The pictures for the last post are up, but...the ones for this week's post are not. Reading over the post and looking at the pictures, one found the situation had gone slightly...pear-shaped. With luck, they will be coming in soon!
