Letters to Ultraman: Boy ウルトラマンへの手紙：ボーイ

(Boy's not part of the official roster, but I counted him in anyway. Whoops!)

Dear Boy,

There's a lot I want to ask you. How old are you? What is school like? What does an Ultran boy do for fun when he's not training?

Secretly I might be a little jealous, because you are learning about the warriors, directly from those warriors. What are they really like, your 'big friends'? You see a side of them many of us on Earth do not. Stand tall, knowing they are beside you and guiding you. I couldn't ask for better teachers.

It has been some years since your first appearance - and in a bit of a time paradox, you seem little changed in your last. How does time pass there for you, anyhow? Is an Earth year like a simple moment, a century another mark on an eternal calendar? I daresay you have more time on your hands than the best of us--and so we must all spend it according to our needs.

Work hard, kiddo. Grow up. See the world. Fall in love. Maybe start a family of your own. I look forward to seeing you on Earth as a warrior one day. And I pray my kind will still be there to fight beside you.

Even for a moment or two.

聞きたいことが、山ほどある。
君は、いくつなの？
光の国の学校はどんなものなんでしょうか？
勉強してない時に、一般人のウルトラ少年の楽しみは何でしょうか？

密かに君の事が、ちょっとうらやましいかも知れません。
なぜなら君がウルトラ戦士のことを、その戦士自身から直接学んでいる。
本当にどんな人なんだろう、君の「大きいな友達」。
君は、私たち地球人が見れない面を見ていると思う。
彼らが君のそばに君を導いている事に誇りを持っていて。
この世によりいい指導者はないと思います。

君が最初テレビに出たときから数年が過ぎた。
そしてタイム・パラドックス見たいなものに　君の最近の出演と比べてあんまり変わっていないね。
ウルトラ族にとって時はどの様に過ぎるのでしょうか。
地球の一年が、一瞬のように？百年が永遠にカレンダーの日付に過ぎないでしょうか？
私たちに比べると君らはたっぷり時間がある。
それで、両方が自分なりに残されている時間を大切に過ごさなければいけないね。

がんばれ、少年よ。
大きくなって、世界を見よう。恋でもしよう。いつか家族でも作ろう。
君が一人前の戦士として地球に降り立つ日を楽しみにしている。
そして、私の子孫が君とともに戦えることを願う。

それがただの一瞬だけとしても。
