Letters to Ultraman: Max ウルトラマンへの手紙：マックス

Hi Max.

You had the misfortune of coming after Nexus while I was still in a little pit of despair at his show ending, but I still enjoyed what little parts I got to see of you.

In fanwork you seem like the kind of guy who would be fun at parties, who would mix all the drinks into a suicide brew and chug it to make people laugh. A little awkward, but likeable all the same. And confident in his abilities, too. An observer who eventually allies with the observed? Gee, that doesn't sound familiar at all...

I do appreciate that you came to give us half a chance at staying alive. What were you thinking at that point? What did you expect to see on that little blue planet? A race enlightened, a people at war with themselves, or something in between? Sometimes even we don't know what we see. It takes an outsider to notice the things you take for granted. I am glad we were worth your cause.

Perhaps the Mike, Kuro and Tama incident has reached M78 already. I shall not talk extensively about it (it was extremely funny, however.). You may now be more of a dog person.

DASH was a good team. Hope you keep in touch with them. Keep your eyes open. Keep watching. Live fearless and live strong, big lunk. And watch out for them space cats.

マックスへ、

やあ。悪運でまだ悼まれていたネクサスの後に登場したけど、見れた数少ないの話でも、結構好きだった。

君って、いいやつだそうね。
ファン作品によればなぜかパーティーで　人を笑わせるために色んなジュースをごちゃ混ぜにして飲み干すような奴に見える。
ちょっとぶきっちょだけど、好ましい奴。
そして才能に、自信がある。
監視している方の味方になる監視官、か～。
どこの誰かに似ているような…

でも生き延びるチャンスを与えたことに感謝している。
その瞬間に何を考えていたかな？
君は、青い惑星に何を見ると思ったのか？
悟りきっていた人類？互いに内乱し続ける人？それにその中間にある状態？
まあ、時には私たちだって　何を見ているのか分からなくなる。
当然のことに本当に気づくために、外部者の観点も必要です。
私たちにそういう価値があることはありがたく感じています。

多分「ミケ・クロ・タマ・の事件」は既に光の国まで届いちゃったかな。
その件についてはあんまり口にしない…大変に面白かったけどね。
より愛犬家になっても無理はない。
