Letters to Ultraman: Dyna ウルトラマンへの手紙：ダイナ

Dear Dyna,

It took a while to get used to you, but it was worth the wait. You were a mysterious, ancient warrior, much like Tiga, but somehow with none of his 'legendary' aura.

And then episode 10, Harukanaru Baohn, was aired locally.

It was hilarious, from the spit-in-the-hands to Baohn sulking to your crashing out from Baohn's powers. You weren't supposed to laugh at your heroes, but it felt so right! So I laughed, and watched on, armed with a new respect for you. And this respect only deepened as the series moved on, because although you and Asuka were complete jokers, deep down your hearts were in the right place.

It feels right, somehow, your succeeding Tiga. Nothing shall part me from the notion that you both fought together in some distant time. That battle in tandem, in your movie--no two strangers fight like that.

(I will also admit that Midou Kazuhiko, for all that he claims he is not a huge Ultraman fan, did you great service with your portrayal in Ultra Ninja Manual: Kotobuki onwards. There was a brief period in my life when challenges were met with 'what would Dyna-shihan do?')

Today, you remain one of the 'comedic experts' along with Nice and Zearth, doing your best to fight evil and cheer people up the only way you know how. Keep it up, old friend. You make me smile, and sometimes that is all anyone needs.

ダイナへ

君に慣れてくるのに時間はかかったけど、やはり待つ価値があった。ティガのように謎の古代戦士でありながら、彼がまとっていた「伝説」のオーラがいっそもなかった。

そして第１０話の「遥かなバオーン」が地元で放送された。

手のひらにつばをかけるからすねているバオーンへバオーンの能力で眠り込んだことまで、たまらなくおかしかった。
ヒーローを笑っちゃってはいけないのに、違和感がなかった！
だから結局笑って、新しい尊敬感で観続けてた。
君とアスカはマヌケたところがあったが、根は心正しくて　シリーズが進んでもっと尊敬してきた。

君がティガのあとを継いだのも、正しく感じる。
遠く前に君たちが一緒に戦ったと言う考えは、だれにでも引き離させない。
あの映画のタンデムバトル…他人二人があんな風に戦わないでしょう。

（あと　御童カズヒコがウルトラマンのファンと主張しても、ウルトラ忍法帖寿以来の描写で君に大いに貢献してくれた思う。
しばらくの間は辛い時に「ダイナ師範なら何をする？」と言う展望で進んできた。）

今日はナイスとゼアスとともに「お笑い担当」しながら　自分なりの方法で悪に立ち向かい人に幸せを送ろうとしている。
がんばれ、友よ。
君は私を笑わせてくれる。時に、それだけで十分です。
